The Kingdom of Bahrain welcomes the statement by members of the Security Council condemning the Houthi terrorist attacks on Saudi Arabia and their threat to maritime navigation.

Manama, August 9 (BNA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s welcome of the statement issued by the members of the United Nations Security Council condemning the missile attacks launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia against the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, targeting the safety of commercial vessels. The statement also affirmed the necessity of adhering to international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, respecting the sovereignty, unity, independence, and territorial integrity of the sisterly Republic of Yemen, and the freedom of maritime navigation.
In its statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its complete support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect its vital interests. This support stems from the deep-rooted fraternal and historical ties, shared destiny, and the Joint Defense Agreement of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The Ministry emphasized that the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are an integral part of the security of the Kingdom of Bahrain and all GCC member states.
The Ministry expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain's appreciation for the diplomatic, developmental, and humanitarian efforts undertaken by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its wise leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, in support of reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political solution, in accordance with the Gulf Initiative and its Implementation Mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216, which preserves Yemen's unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
The Ministry also acknowledged Saudi Arabia's vital role in establishing the multinational maritime defense coalition to enhance maritime security, protect freedom of navigation and international trade, and safeguard global energy supplies. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain's call, through its non-permanent membership in the Security Council, for the international community to assume its responsibilities and take a firm stance to deter the heinous terrorist attacks that threaten the security and safety of international navigation and trade, and undermine efforts to achieve security, stability, and peace in the region, in accordance with the rules of international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and in implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions.
