Malaysia Committed To Countering Terrorism, Extremism Via IMCTC

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s participation in the Saudi Arabia-based Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) reflects the country’s commitment to playing an active role in strengthening international cooperation to address various forms of security threats, including terrorism and extremism, said Malaysian Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

He said that in this context, Malaysia remains firm in curbing deviant ideologies and threats posed by non-state actors that could undermine security and stability.

He said this in a social media post, in which he also shared details of his meeting with two Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) officers currently serving at the IMCTC during his working visit to Riyadh.

The two officers are Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Shah Othman and Analysis Officer Major Zainudin Abu Hasan.

“I would like to express my appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of these two MAF officers who have upheld Malaysia’s good name while contributing to collective efforts for regional and global security and stability,” he said.

According to earlier media reports, Khaled has been on a working visit to Saudi Arabia since last Saturday and is scheduled to sign a defence cooperation agreement between Malaysia and the Gulf nation.

During the visit, he also held bilateral talks with Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud and attended the World Defence Show (WDS) 2026.
