Robust 2025 Singapore Arrivals Reflect Strong Tourism Ties With Malaysia - High Commissioner

SINGAPORE, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- The strong flow of visitors from Singapore to Malaysia in 2025 reflects confidence, connectivity, and the enduring strength of the tourism partnership of both countries, according to Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore Dr Azfar Mohamad Mustafar.

Commenting on statistics, Azfar said the city-state remains Malaysia's primary and largest market for tourism, contributing 21.1 million visitors which accounted for nearly half of all 42.2 million international arrivals last year.

"This is not just a statistic. This is a statement of confidence as well as connectivity, and a statement of the enduring strength of the Malaysian-Singapore tourism partnership,” he said at the Tourism Malaysia Chinese New Year Appreciation Luncheon 2026, hosted by the Tourism Malaysia-Singapore Office, on Tuesday.

Throughout the year, Azfar said the Tourism Malaysia-Singapore Office implemented 45 strategic promotional initiatives, ranging from exhibitions and familiarisation trips to seminars, roadshows, and joint promotions under the Charter Flight Matching Grant (GSPC) Program.

Meanwhile, Tourism Malaysia-Singapore director Norliza Md Zain noted that the office has been entrusted with an ambitious mandate to help Malaysia surpass 47 million international arrivals during Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

"Let us work together to ensure that Visit Malaysia Truly Asia Year 2026 not only meets its targets, but exceeds them in positioning Malaysia as a must-visit destination for travellers worldwide," she added.

Tourism Malaysia-Singapore Office today celebrated around 80 Singapore tourism industry players, including travel agents, bus operators, and airlines.
