Kyrgyz judoka Erlan Sherov wins gold medal at European Cup

Bishkek, Feb. 16, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz judoka Erlan Sherov won a gold medal at the Ljubljana European Open-2026 European Cup.

According to the State Agency for Physical Education and Sports, the competitions were held on February 14-15 in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana.

513 athletes from 45 countries participated in the tournament.

Erlan Sherov, who passed the first round in the weight category up to 90 kg, confidently defeated Belgian Karl Foubert in the 1/16 finals, Lithuanian Augustas Slizerinets in the 1/8 finals, French Eniel Carolin in the quarterfinals, and Egyptian Abdalla Abdelsameidi in the semifinals.

In the final match, he defeated Russian David Karapetyan and became the champion of the competition.
