BATAVIA AIR PLANE FAILS TO TAKE OFF
Pangkalpinang, June 15 (ANTARA) - A Batavia Air plane failed to take off at the Depati Amir airport in Pangkalpinang, capital of Bangka Belitung province, on Saturday after its left wheel malfunctioned, a spokesman said.
"The Jakarta-bound Batavia Air plane carrying Law and Human Rights Minister Andi Matalata, Bangka Belitung Governor Eko Maulana Ali and 17-member entourage failed to take off after its left wheel malfunctioned," spokesman for the Bangka Belitung provincial administration Latif Pribadi said.
Minister Matalata was in Pangkalpinang for a working visit.
Latif said the plane had earlier moved on the runway for a few minutes before the airline decided to cancel the flight as the plane's left wheel malfunctioned.
The airline said there were 135 people on the manifest, consisting of 126 adults and nine children.
