Iranian photos win honorable mentions at Asahi Intl. contest
TEHRAN, Jan. 16 (MNA) -- Eight Iranian photographers received honorable mention at the 70th International Photographic Salon of Japan.
“Village Children” by Farhad Talebi-Chaichi, “No War” by Mehdi Razavi, “Little Girl” by Reza Golchin, “Classmates” by Mohammad Golchin, “Blessing” by Seyyed Ali Seyyedi and “New Growing” Davud Ameri are among the honorees.
Untitled works by Hassan Qa’edi and Mohammad-Hassan Amini also received honors at the contest sponsored by the All-Japan Association of Photographic Societies and the Asahi Shimbun, Talebi-Chaichi.
The screening committee selected a total of 130 works, comprised of 80 from overseas and 50 from within Japan.
Over 5,000 entries from 38 countries were judged by the 12-member panel of judges headed by photographer Takeyoshi Tanuma.
India and Vietnam led winning entrants in the overseas division with 13 works each, followed by Iran with 8, and Bangladesh and China with 5 works each.
Winning photos will later go on display in exhibits to be arranged in Tokyo, Osaka and other major cities in Japan.
Farhad Talebi-Chaichi was born in 1955 in Tabriz, East Azerbaijan. He has participated in over 30 group exhibits and has held two solo exhibits so far.
