MP URGES INDONESIAN AUTHOTRITIES TO EXPEDITE RELEASE OF DETAINED FISHERMAN
KUALA TERENGGANU (Malaysia), Jan 17 (Bernama)-- A Member of Parliament Mohd
Nasir Ibrahim Fikri urged the Indonesian authorities to expedite the legal
processes involving Kampung Seberang Takir fisherman Che Wan Budiman Che Wan
Ngah to enable him to return home as soon as possible.
Speaking to reporters here Sunday, Mohd Nasir said he and an assemblyman
Ramli Noh would be going to Pontianak at the end of this month to
seek the help of the Indonesian authorities to expedite the processes so that
his release could be secured without delay.
Che Wan Budiman, 31, is being held at a detention centre in Pontianak after
being arrested by the Indonesian authorities on Nov 12 last year for allegedly
encroaching into Indonesian waters.
Four other crew members from his fishing boat - Musa Mahammad (rpt:
Mahammad), 33, Mohd Arif Rosli, 20, Ahmad Faizul Sulong, 33, and Akhmadi Daud,
28, - who were arrested along with him have since been freed and returned to
their Kampung Sebarang Takir homes on Dec 27.
