TURKISH TEAM RESCUES THREE MORE PEOPLE IN HAITI
ANKARA (A.A) - 18.01.2010 - Turkish search-and-rescue team, GEA, has pulled alive three more people from rubble, rescuing five survivors in the last two days after a magnitude-7 quake devastated Haiti.
Upon requests of quake survivors, members of the team began rescue efforts at a collapsed shopping mall. After hours of efforts, five people including a seven-year-old girl were rescued from the rubble of the five-storey Caribbean Center shopping mall.
Turkish team's success has caused a nationwide joy since hopes are fading away to find any more survivors under rubble.
Press members are covering the Turkish team's search-and-rescue efforts in the rubble of the shopping mall.
Nine-member GEA team left for Haiti on January 14 after a powerful quake devastated this country on January 12. The quake killed thousands of people and left thousands of others homeless and destitute. It was the most devastating quake recorded in the last two centuries.
