NATO DELEGATION ARRIVES IN UKRAINE
KIEV, June 16 (Itar-Tass) - Delegation headed by NATO Secretary
General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer arrives in Ukraine on Monday.

The Ukraine-NATO commission will hold a meeting with the participation of ambassadors, foreign and defense ministers,
Meetings of the visitors with the president, prime minister and the parliament larders are also planned.
Amassadors of 26 NATO countries will divide into:thematic groups".
Each which will visit one of three Ukrainian cities - Lvov, Kharkov and Dneproptrovsk.
The NATO secretary general will hold in Kiev a number of meetings and the youth within the framework of the Ukraine's campaign NATO-Yes.
It is expected that an assessement will be given during the meetings and talks in Kiev to Ukraine's plan of action with NATO for 2008 in the context of its bid for joining NATO membership plan of action. This application was delayed for the end of the year at the NATO summit in Bucharest,
The Ukrainian leadership will report the progress of reforms in the country and its army.
Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said before his visit to Kiev that NATO is not going to deploy its bases in Ukraine, Including in Sevastopol, after the Russian fleet leaves it in 2017.
He also stressed than NATO would stay outside any discussions between Ukraine and Russia about the future of the Black Sea Fleet. He said the Western alliance would not be dragged into territorial or any other disputes that Ukraine could have with Russia,
NATO and Ukraine signed in Brussels on June 13 a memorandum of
understanding on Ukraine's joining the NATO system of air space control
Ukrainian Defense Minister Yuri Yekhanurov then said that Ukraine "is seeking for its niche in NATO".
The minister said Ukraine participates on all operations of the
Western alliance - in Afghanistan and Kosovo--and its ships are present in there Mediterranean Sea, where antiterrorist operation Active Endeavor is continuing.
The minister said Ukraine is ready to take part in the formation of NATO Rapid Reaction Force. A new 12,000-strong formation has the task of reacting to crises everywhere in the world.
At the same time, President Viktor Yushchenko critically assessed the army's combat rewadiness in a statement last Friday.
He said 85 percent of anti-aircraft missile systems, 55 percent of
warplanes and 84 percent of ships exhausted their resources.
