Nuts, dried fruit exports up 20%
Tehran, Jan. 17 (MNA) – Iran has exported 87,347 tons of nuts and dried fruits valued at $671,801 during the first nine-month period ended December 21, 2009.
There was an increase of 20 percent compared to the same period in the last year.
According to Iranian Customs Administration, pistachio was the major exported item, accounting for 98 percent of the total weight of exported products.
Iran is the world largest producer of pistachios and Iranian pistachios are very delicious and are available in many varieties and flavors. Raisins, figs, dates, and barberries are among other major dried fruits exported from Iran.
