AZERBAIJANI OMBUDSMAN MAKES STATEMENT ON 20 JANUARY TRAGEDY
Baku, January 18 (AzerTAc). The Azerbaijani commissioner for human rights has released a statement on the 20 January, 1990 massacre in Baku. The document was sent to UN Secretary General, high commissioner for human rights, OSCE, Council of Europe, international and European ombudspersons institutes, Asian Ombudsman Association, International Peace Bureau, Universal Peace Federation, ombudsmen of various countries, embassies, Azerbaijani Diaspora.
“We believe that the world community, international organizations will support Azerbaijan`s fair demands; this deliberate, antihumanistic, anti-democratic and terrible crime committed against our people and accompanied by mass and gross violation of human rights will be assessed under international law very soon and criminals will not go unpunished,” the statement says.
