Visit of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill to Almaty
Almaty, January 19, 2010 (Khabar) - In memory of visiting the capital, he presented the icon of Kazan Mother of God to believers. And Astana mayor Imangali Tasmagambetov handed to the Patriarch icon of the Mother of God on behalf of the President. In Almaty, at the the head of the Russian Orthodox Church met with the public.
In Astana, the Patriarch Kirill consecrated Uspenskiy Cathedral. Its construction began in 2005. Nowadays the majestic building with area of more than two thousand square meters is a decoration and pride of the capital. In Almaty, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church said: Kazakhstan had survived all the trials that befell on the former Soviet republics.

- Any honest observer notes the special role of the first President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev because he really laid the foundation for such a state and created a social climate that removed all possible concerns associated with the development of inter-ethnic conflicts.
There are no national and historical phobias in Kazakhstan. No one holds the evil for the past here and searches for complicating relations among people of the former Soviet Union. This is a great example! - said the Patriarch.

- I would like to sincerely thank the President and his team, and all the people of Kazakhstan for this. They really did so much to start a new life in peace, calmness and with a friendly attitude toward everybody.
The Patriarch says the holding of Congresses of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is a remarkable initiative of Nursultan Nazarbayev. He noted the solution of problems that now afflict the human civilization requires cooperation and coordination.

- I would like to recall the words of the President of Kazakhstan. He expressed confidence that all of the major challenges of the modern world can be solved through dialogue and mutual efforts. Russian Orthodox Church is in full agreement with this approach.
The evening the Patriarch ade all-night vigil in Svyatonikolskiy Cathedral in Almaty. And in the morning he held a Divine Liturgy at Voznesenskiy Cathedral and laid wreaths at the memorial in the Park of Glory 28-Panfilov guardsmen. He said in conclusion that communication of nations will be really strong and full if it is based on a common historical memory, common values of mutual fraternal support, and all this securely connects Kazakhstan and Russia.
