Vietnam welcomes joint projects with Russian investors

MOSCOW, January 19 (Itar-Tass) - Vietnamese Deputy Minister of
Planning and Investment Cao Viet Sinh said his country welcomes the
implementation of joint projects with Russian investors.
The deputy minister made the statement at the opening of the forum
"Vietnam: Investment Potential and Opportunities for Foreign Investors" at
Russia's Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday.
"After the signing of the historic accords during the bilateral talks
between Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Russian Prime
Minister Vladimir Putin in December 2009, friendship and cooperation
between our countries has continues to expand and intensify," Vietnamese
Ambassador to Russia Bu Dinh Dinh said.
"Today, we're taking the first steps at this forum to implement the
December records in the oil sphere. Despite the negative consequences of
the global economic crisis, trade turnover between Russia and Vietnam
reached 1.7 billion dollars last year, a 4-percent increase from 2008,"
the envoy said.
According to Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Cao
Viet Sinh, "the Vietnamese economy has reached considerable success in the
recent past: it has managed to integrate in the world economy, and
establish trade tries with 170 countries of the world. In the future, we
plan to build nuclear power plants in the republic, and high-speed
railroads and highways. In order to attract foreign investments, we're
implementing a law on investments and entrepreneurship."
"A regular political dialogue at top level between the heads of our
governments and states make the groundwork of Russian-Vietnamese trade and
economic ties," vice-president of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and
Industry Georgy Petrov said.
Vietnam is one of the few old and reliable partners of Russia, with
which it managed to keep the level of trade turnover in the crisis
conditions.
Gazprom and Vietnam's Pterovietnam agreed to set up the Gazpromviet
joint venture, and concluded a strategic partnership agreement, Petrov
said.
