Iran's Majlis speaker defends TV debates on poll aftermath
TEHRAN, Jan. 19 (MNA) – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has stated that televised debates between politicians should not be temporary, saying holding such debates should turn into a strategy for Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
"These debates can be a good solution to resolve political, social and cultural issues, and all experts should be given the opportunity to air their views” on the programs, he said on the sidelines of a conference on the Gaza Strip in Tehran.
The IRIB has started a series of televised debates over the post-election incidents. The programs have been warmly welcomed by the public.
