TWO INDONESIANS FEARED DROWNED WHILE FISHING

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 (Bernama) -- Two Indonesian men are feared drowned after their boat capsized while they were fishing at a disused mining pond in Jalan Genting Klang here Tuesday.

Jalan Hang Tuah fire station assistant superintendent Mohd Ramali Arbain
said the station received a call on the incident at 7pm and despatched a rescue
team comprising 25 men including divers and aided by rescuers from the General
Operations Force and City Hall to the scene.

"However, after about three hours, the search operation had to be stopped
because of the pitch darkness although divers scoured up to 15 metres deep," he
told reporters at the scene.

He said the search operation would resume at 8am Wednesday.

He added that the victims' identities had yet to be ascertained but they
were believed to workers at a construction site nearby.

A witness, Canddy Jude Arin, 28, a male trainee nurse, said he was jogging
in the area when he heard cries of help coming from the two men but despite
attempts by him and passers-by to save them, they disappeared under water very
quickly.
