100th anniversary of Bauyrzhan Momyshuly

Almaty, January 20, 2009, Khabar - 100th anniversary of Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, thrice Hero of the Soviet Union, the commander of regiment of the famous 316-th Infantry Division of General Panfilov. The life and exploits of the legendary warrior formed the basis of many books, including autobiographical ones. All these books were exposed in Almaty at the exhibition “Halyk Batyr”. The exhibition shows the whole life of the hero. These are books of contemporaries of Baurzhan Momyshuli “Volokalamsk highway”, “I will never forget”, “On the distant approaches”, “In the offensive”, “My front-line friends” and his own books “Moscow is behind us”, “General Panfilov”, “History of One Night” and others. Manuscripts, front diaries, photos were also exposed at the exposition. Bauyrzhan Momishuli is an example of true patriotism, veterans of the Great Patriotic War say. He frequently repeated: the mind is given to many, but heart – not to all. The warrior must be ready for great deeds and sacrifice at any moment, without hesitation and regret, if it is requested by the motherland. His name is the legend. Bauyrzhan Momyshuli became famous in the defensive battles of Moscow, on Volokolamsk direction, in the autumn and winter operations of 1941-1942. Books were written about his deeds and many films were shot. Bauyrzhan Momyshuli always says “The main thing is to think, think and think. Officer should not be a boxing soldier but mainly soldier of the mind. As the Kazakh proverb says “bayonet kills one, but intelligence kills thousands” …

- The artistic heritage of Baurzhan Momyshuli inexhaustible, it wasn’t investigated until the end. He was multi-faceted personality. He was not just a soldier and commander. He was a writer, he was a teacher, a sage.

In Kazakhstan, streets and schools, villages and district centers are named the name of the hero. Memorial in the capital and Shymkent were opened and it is planned to open the memorial and museum in Almaty. The complete works of folk batyr, Baurzhan Momyshuli will be released soon.
