PM TO LAUNCH FEDERAL TERRITORIES DAY SIMULTANEOUSLY FOR ALL THREE TERRITORIES

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak is scheduled to
launch the Federal Territories Day celebration for all the three federal
territories - Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya - simultaneously at
Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square) here on Feb 1.

Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal
Abidin said that some 40 events had been lined up in conjunction with the
celebration as an initiative to further instill solidarity among the people in
the federal territories.

Among them are concerts by local artistes, cultural performances, fireworks
displays and the launching of a fund for maintenance of low cost homes of the
private sector whereby the prime minister would announce the details.

Raja Nong Chik added that this year too Federal Territories medals and
awards would be presented in conjunction with the celebration.

"The investiture for it is scheduled to be performed by the Deputy King
Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah at Istana Negara (National Palace) on Feb 1, "
he said.
