FRANCE STRETCHES HELPING HAND TO HERDERS

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ In response to Mongolian Government's appeal to the international community to co-operate in preventive measures to minimize for the Mongolian herders possible negative consequences of zud, a number of foreign countries and international organizations are pledging donation.
France has donated an aid of USD 3 million for covering the cost of delivering food, hay, fodder and forage to herders. International Fund of Promoting Mongolia's Agriculture has allocated MNT 400 million for creating emergency hay and forage reserves in Arkhangai, Bulgan, Khovsgol and Khentii provinces. The National Emergency Management Agency in association with the World Vision international NGO is organizing shipping and delivering hay and forage distributed.
State and non-governmental organizations and private sector have launched an aid campaign to support herders materially and morally. As of today, MNT 314 million cash and material aid have been donated by 94 organizations and individuals.
