DAMASCUS, Syria, Jan. 22 (MNA) – Four Iranian pilgrims were killed and 35 others wounded as a bus veered off the road near Damascus, Syria, on Friday morning.
The bus was heading to Damascus from the northwestern city of Tabriz when the driver lost control of the bus due to fatigue, the Mehr News Agency correspondent from Syria reported.
A number of the injured passengers are in a critical condition.
In a similar incident two months ago, three Iranians were killed on the road.
The passengers were to visit the shrine of Hazrat Zainab (SA) on the outskirts of Damascus. The shrine is visited by pilgrims from Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, and Shias from the Persian Gulf Arab states.
Hazrat Zainab was a sister of Imam Hussein (AS), a grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (S).
