Iran's “Superstar” takes home two awards at Dhaka festival

TEHRAN, Jan. 23 (MNA) -- The 11th Dhaka International Film Festival gave two awards to the Iranian film “Superstar” during the closing ceremony on Friday evening.

Fattaneh Malek-Mohammadi won the best actress award for her role in the film while Alireza Zarrindast received the best cameraman award for the flick.

Directed by Tahmineh Milani, the film tells the story of an egotistical movie star, Kurosh Zand, who gradually metamorphizes when he meets his daughter Raha.

The Audience Award went to another Iranian film “I’m Taraneh, 15” directed by Rasul Sadr-Ameli.

The festival also held a retrospective of Sadr-Ameli, in which “Every Night, Loneliness”, “A Girl in the Sneakers”, “I’m Taraneh, 15” and “Last Night, I Saw Your Dad, Aida” were shown.

A total of 14 other Iranian films including “Winter Dreams” directed by Siamak Shayeqi, “Twenty” by Abodorreza Kahani and “3 Women” by Manijeh Hekmat were also screened in various sections of the 9-day event.
