China vice president leaves for DPRK for visit

BEIJING, June 17 (Itar-Tass) - Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Tuesday has left for North Korea, with which his tour of five countries of Asia and the Middle East begins.
He is expected to discuss in Pyongyang a range of bilateral relations, as well as touch upon the possibility of further steps within the framework of the process of denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.
However, official Beijing doesn't mention the North Korean nuclear
problem.
"Xi Jinping's visit pursues the aim to increase the number of
summit exchanges, deepen cooperation, ensure further development of
friendly relations between China and the DPRK," spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Qin Gang said earlier.
It will be the first visit of one of China's top leaders to Pyongyang since the time of a nuclear test carried out by North Korea in October 2006.
Aside from North Korea, the Chinese vice president will visit
Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Yemen.
