Iran, Azerbaijan discuss energy cooperation

Baku, Azerbaijan, June 17 (IRNA) - Iran's Energy Minister Parviz Fatah held talks with his Azeri counterpart Natiq Aliyev on issues of mutual interest including cooperation in energy field.
At the meeting, Aliyev said that some measures have been taken to synchronize Iranian and Russian electricity networks.
"Currently, Iran and Azerbaijan are cooperating in the fields of electricity exchange, gas and energy," Aliyev said.
The Azeri minister stated that the two countries enjoy good trade and economic ties and bilateral cooperation is increasing.
"At present, National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is active in the Azeri Shah Deniz gas field," Aliyev said.
Aliyev also termed the Islamic Republic of Iran as a friendly
neighboring state.
Fatah, for his part, called for boosting of bilateral ties in all fields especially in energy sector.
Fatah also invited his Azeri counterpart to visit Iran for the
continuation of bilateral talks.
The Iranian energy minister heading a delegation arrived in Baku
Tuesday morning.
