UNFPA PLEDGES RP3.2 BILLION GRANT FOR W NUSA TENGGARA
Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara, Jan 25 (ANTARA) - The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has pledged Rp3.2 billion in grants to finance West Nusa Tenggara`s population and family planning programs this year, an official said.
The grants would be the seventh of its kind the world body would provide to the province, the head of the social development planning at the West Nusa Tenggara provincial development planning board (Bappeda) H Manggaukang Raba said on Monday.
UNFPA for the first time extended Rp1.2 billion in grants to the province in 2006. Last year, UNFPA grants for the province totaled Rp4.69 billion.
UNFPA-funded projects in the province included the formation of parliamentary forum, a seminar on the drafting of bylaws on HIV/AIDS, and a program to familiarize religious and social figures with reproduction health, he said.
