Iran seeking amicable relation with Arab states: Larijani

KUWAIT CITY, Jan. 27 (MNA) – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said Tehran is seeking a brotherly and friendly relations with Arab countries and its neighbors.
Iranian senior lawmaker made the remarks on Tuesday during a meeting with Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Ahmed Jaber Al-Sabah.
The two sides underscored economic, commercial and banking ties and held comprehensive discussion over boosting investment cooperation, the Mehr News Agency correspondent who is accompanying Larijani reported.
The Emir of Kuwait also defended Iran’s right to nuclear energy meant for peaceful purposes.
“Iran has the right to use nuclear energy and we defend its right,” he said.
Larijani also met with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Naser Mohammed Al-Sabah and Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi on Tuesday.
In the meeting with Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker, Larijani said Iran believes that close regional relations are essential for resolving the issues facing the region.
Jassem Al-Kharafi, for his part, said “We praise Iran’s stances towards Palestine and Iraq.”
Iran and Kuwait have convergent policies towards Iraq and Palestine, he added.
Larijani and Kuwaiti Prime Minister’s talks revolved around the bilateral economic cooperation.
They talked about establishing Iranian banks in Kuwait, facilitating the trade activities, expanding oil and gas cooperation, connecting Iran and Kuwait railways, and increasing the number of flights between Kuwait and Abadan.
