PREMIER VISITS HOSPITALS
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ On Tuesday, Premier S.Batbold visited the city's first maternity hospital and the "Achtan" private hospital. The maternity hospital has been closed for a while from January 19 evening due to several lethal cases of sepsis among newborn babies.
The city's Mayor G.Monkhbayar asked the Premier to issue money for profound repair in the maternity house. As calculated, some MNT 2.1 billion is required to complete the repair within three months, he added.
For the time being, the pregnant women who had been in the first maternity hospital have been moved to the Research Center for Mother and Infant, second maternity hospital, and "Khatagtai", "We are for You" and "Achtan" private hospitals. Doctors worry about the overload on these hospitals' staff and facilities.
The government has dedicated MNT 469.6 million for transferring the maternity section to the "Achtan" and for ensuring the latter's normal functions.
After the repair, medical examination and sterilization are expected for which MNT 112 million are needed. All doctors of the first maternity house will work in the "Achtan" hospital. A necessary equipment will be installed as well.
The Premier said the cabinet meeting will discuss the money issue in the nearest future. "How to create resource has not been resolved though," he added.
