German hand-stitch drawings to go on display in Iran
TEHRAN, Jan. 27 (MNA) -- Tehran’s Atbin Gallery will be hosting an exhibition by German artist Sonya Schonberger named “Yesterday Came Suddenly” opening on Friday.
The exhibit features different drawings made with hand stitches on pieces of old cotton. The pieces of cotton are almost one hundred years old and were found in an attic in Germany.
The exhibit is arranged by Amir-Ali Qasemi, founder of parkingallery website and will continue until February 4 at the gallery located on Khakzad Alley, off Vali-e Asr St. Parkway neighborhood.
Sonya Schonberger has studied social anthropology and experimental media design in Berlin, Zurich and Amsterdam. She works with various types of media such as video, stitch, drawing and photography.
There are major topics in her works such as personal narrations, memories and life experiences.
Her previous works contain “Gaza on My Mind” and “People with Small Ears Are Smarter”.
