Asia Foundation opens book storage centre at National University
VIENTIANE, JAN 27 (KPL) -The Asia Foundation and the National University of Laos organized an opening ceremony of a book storage centre, which will be then used for keeping books donated from foreign countries.
The ceremony took place at the National University on January 21, 2010 in Vientiane and present at the ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phetsamone Khounsavath, Vice Rector of the National University of Laos and Mr. Lee Hong Koo, President of Seoul Forum for International Affairs and Former Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, and relevant officials of both sides.
Every year, the Book for Asia Project of the Asia Foundation donates 10,000 books to educational institutes in the Lao PDR.
Books kept at the book storage centre will be distributed to people who live in rural areas across the country.
