9th round of consultations on Southern Caucasus to begin in Geneva.
GENEVA, January 28 (Itar-Tass) - The ninth round of consultations on
security and stability in Southern Caucasus will begin in Geneva on
Thursday.
The delegations of Abkhazia, Georgia, South Ossetia, Russia and the
United States will participate in the meeting held under the aegis of the
United Nations, the European Union and the Organization for Security and
Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
As usual, there will be two working groups to discuss security and
humanitarian issues.
The Geneva consultations have been held since October 2008 on the
basis of agreements, which the presidents of Russia and France reached
after Russia repelled Georgia's aggression against South Ossetia in August
2008.
The Russian delegation is led by the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister
Grigory Karasin. Boris Chochiyev, the presidential envoy for
post-conflict settlement, will represent South Ossetia. Vyacheslav
Chirikba, the Abkhazian president's adviser on international affairs, and
the Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Bokeria will respectively
represent Abkhazia and Georgia.
