Russia to be honorary guest at a book fair in Egypt
CAIRO, January 28 (Itar-Tass) - Russia will be an honorary guest of
the 42nd International Book Fair that will open in the Egyptian capital on
Thursday.
Russian Minister of Mass Communications Igor Shchogolev is heading the
Russian delegation. It consists of more than 100 people, including
publishers, translators, writers and journalists.
The Russian exposition will feature more than 2,000 books published by
more than 50 publishing houses.
The Republic of Tatarstan will be the highlight of the Russian
exposition. Books published by Tatarstan's leading publishing houses tell
about the business and cultural life of this region of Russia, about its
everyday life and holidays and the ancient town of Kazan. Craftsmen from
Tatarstan will demonstrate their skills on the Square of Crafts.
A special place will be occupied by a display titled "Egypt in Russian
Publications".
Other exhibits will include Russian non-fiction and publications for
children and teenagers. A special section will be devoted to the 150th
birth anniversary of Anton Chekhov.
An exhibition of rare photographs is timed to coincide with the 50th
anniversary of the construction of the Aswan Dam, a landmark event in the
history of Russian-Egyptian relations.
The Cairo International Book Fair will see a lot of video projects.
