MOSCOW, January 29 (Itar-Tass) - The transit of military cargoes for
the U.S. contingent in Afghanistan via the Russian airspace will be
launched soon with only some technical problems remaining, Russia's NATO
Ambassador Dmitry Rogozin told reporters during a video link between
Moscow and Brussels on Friday.

"We have already stated our readiness for a non-military transit of
cargoes by Russian railways on commercial terms," the ambassador noted.
"Cargoes are humanitarian, and there is no hardware," he stressed.
"We have also repeatedly discussed possibilities of offering an air
bridge with the right to examine cargoes," he added. "But a problem with
countries neighbouring Afghanistan has emerged," Rogozin said.
According to him, air transit for the USA will be launched after the
American side settles some technical problems. "There is no political
problem for the transit," Rogozin summed up.
