INFLATION IN BATAM 1.26 PCT

Tanjungpinang, Feb 1 (ANTARA) - The inflation in Batam in January 2010 reached 1.26 pct, head of the Riau Islands Central Board of Statistics Mangaputua Gultom said here Monday.

"Inflation in Batam was triggered by the increase in the prices of several goods and services," he said.

Gultom added that the goods and commodities whose prices had increased included red onion, noodle, rice, house rents, long beans, sugar, fish, and sate.

While several other commodities had their prices lowered like golden earnings, rings, cell phones, red onion, tomato and vegetables.
