Trade negotiation of private great contributes to Laos as WTO member

VIENTIANE,FEB O1(KPL) The US Embassy in Laos in collaboration with Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry has held a seminar on cooperation mechanism between state and private sectors to promote private sector involving in trade negotiation of Laos to prepare for the member of World Trade Organisation.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Ms Khemmany Pholsena who chaired the meeting, said that private sector is very importance for Laos becoming as a member of the WTO.
“The main objective of the seminar was aiming at developing a directive on improving various services, especially in trade negotiation that would help Laos to become as a WTO’s member,” she said.
The seminar was held on 28 January at Done Chan Palace Hotel, Vientiane Capital, attended by US Ambassador to Laos and more than 50 officials concerned.
The participants have also discussed and found out negotiations procedure for private sectors in order to help Lao businesspeople to deeply understand in trade negotiation, economic integration and the implementation of bilateral trade agreement as well as the rules of negotiation to access WTO’s member.
The seminar has run for two days, which was a part of the US Government’s efforts in supporting Laos to become as the member of WTO.
