President calls for ending siege on Gaza Strip

SANA'A, June 20 (Saba) - President Ali Abdullah Saleh called on
Thursday for ending the blockade imposed on Gaza Strip.

During his meeting with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas,
president Saleh renewed support of Yemen for right of Palestinian
people to set up their independent state and al-Quds as its
capital, affirming support of Yemen for holding national dialogue
among Palestinian factions to resolve dispute and enhance
Palestinian national unity.

Abbas briefed president Saleh on the current developments in
Palestine within the truce agreement in Gaza strip between Hamas and
Israel.

He also briefed the president on results of his recent visit to
United States and his meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister to go
ahead with efforts of peace in the region.

Abbas affirmed concern of the Palestinian National Authority to hold
a national dialogue to overcome dispute based on the Yemeni
initiative and resolutions of the Damascus summit.

He expressed appreciation of the Palestinian people for the Yemeni
support and efforts of the president Saleh to bring an end for the
Palestinian division.AH
