RUSSIAN-INDONESIAN DICTIONARY LAUNCHED
London, Feb 2 (ANTARA) - The Russian-Indonesian dictionary is expected to greatly contribute to promoting the relations between the two nations.
A dictionary is playing a very important role in communications between people of different languages, Counsellor of the Indonesian embassy in Moscow M. Aji Surya told Antara`s correspodent in London Tuesday.
The launching of the dictionary was attended by more than 100 guests from many circles, including ambassadors, Indonesian and Russian academicians, and the Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Alexander Ivanov, as well as Indonesia`s Ambassador to Russia Hamid Awaludin.
M Aji Surya said for the Russian ambassador in Jakarta, the launching of the dictionary is a historical event and will serve as a golden bridge for promoting the relations between the two countries which had been established for a long time.
In the meantime, former Indonesian ambassador to Russia Rachmat Witoelar said the making of the dictionary is a very rare and extraordinary momentum "It needs to be hailed positively."
Ambassador Awaludin expressed appreciation to the University of Indonesia (UI) and several universities in Russia for their serious and hard work in compiling this dictionary for such a long time.
Besides realizing the cooperation between the universities of the two countries, the dictionary will give a positive impact on tourism, trade, politics, and others," he said.
According to Hamid Awaludin, the number of Russian tourists coming to Indonesia last year reached 90 thousand and trade increased to 1.6 billion US dollars.
