Kazakhstan is working out legal basis for Common Economic Space

ASTANA, February 3 (Itar-Tass) -- Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Karim
Massimov on Wednesday chaired a special meeting devoted to the legal basis
for a future three-nation Common Economic Space.
Back in December 2009, the leaders of the Customs Union member nations
- Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus - announced the CES would be formed
before January 1, 2012.
"The participants in the governmental meeting have discussed a basic
package of 20 agreements embracing all major elements of the CES. Its
comprises coordinated economic policies, including unique competition
principles, regulations for natural monopolies and state support for the
development of industry and agriculture," the government's press service
said.
The CES, which implies free movement of goods, services, labor force
and capital, opens up new perspectives for the economies of the three
member-countries.
"The consumer market, which will reach 170 million, and the formation
of unique principles and rules for economic policies of the three
countries will benefit the investment climate in the member states," he
said.
The CES agreements will provide non-discriminatory access to the
infrastructures of the member countries, particularly, those in
electricity, oil and gas transportation and rail roads.
