Oil spill in Yakutia liquidated

VLADIVOSTOK, February 4 (Itar-Tass) - Rescuers have liquidated the
effects of the oil spill that occurred on the Eastern Siberia-Pacific
Ocean pipeline in Yakutia on January 20, the press service of the Far
Eastern regional centre of the Emergencies Ministry said on Thursday.
"All petroleum products have been collected and the polluted area
cleaned. The polluted soil is being taken to temporary hangars," the
source said.
A total of 450 cubic meters of oil spilled to the ground 30 kilometers
away from the town of Lensk as a result of a pipe break during planned
repairs. The oil leak polluted an area of 20,000 square meters.
There is no threat to people's lives or health.
One hundred and eighty four people and 42 equipment units were engaged
in the rescue operation. The environmental inspection continues to monitor
the content of petroleum products in soil.
