GOLKAR TO REMAIN CONSISTENT IN BANK CENTURY PROBE
Jakata, Feb 4 (ANTARA) - The Golkar Party will remain consistent in disclosing the Bank Century case openly in accordance with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's statement in the run-up to the inquiry committee's work.
"Golkar wants the Bank Century case disclosed and made crystal clear to avoid slander against the government and government officials," Golkar Secretary General Idrus Marhan, who is concurrently chairman of the House Bank Century Inquiry Committee, said at the legislative building here on Thursday.
He said Golkar's stance to investigate into the Bank Century case was based on its intention to guard the vision of good governance and to avoid political slander against the government and government officials.
"Following the disclosure of the Century case, public opinion will become clear and controversial statements will no longer be made," Idrus said.
Asked about a statement made by a Democrat Party leader who said Golkar had become "naughty" and was feared to damage the coalition, Idrus said the statement was not correct.
He said the attitude shown by Golkar members in the Bank Century inquiry committee was the realization of the party's commitment to protect the coalition.
"In disclosing the Bank Century case, Golkar will adhere to the principle of clean governance, and therefore there is no need for a certain party to be nervous," he said.***
