GOVT'S FIRST 100 DAYS ACHIEVEMENTS PART OF CONTINUOUS PROGRAM

Jakarta, Feb 4 (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa said what the government had achieved in its first 100 days was part of its continuous program for the next few years.

"It is part of the continuous program that we will implement. We have already gained quick wins and the debottlenecking we have done is expected to smooth the further process," Hatta told reporters at his office here on Thursday.

He said the various achievements made during the government's first 100 days, such as improvements in a number of regulations, would be of great advantage to economic players.

Hatta had earlier said the first 100 days program had three characteristics, namely quick wins, debottlenecking, and a program with strategic foundations for development over the next five years.

Quick wins, according to the minister, were a program that would have a positive impact on the economy.

He said the quick-win program included revitalization of the people's business credit (KUR) scheme, and expansion of access to KURs.

The minister added the quick-win program would affect the economy quickly such as revitalizing the small holder credit scheme through interest reduction, widening access to the credit scheme and others.

Hatta said the 19 programs and 51 action plans implemented during the government's first 100 days were carried out 100 percent on February 1, 2010.

However, he said, two things could not be implemented as desired, namely revision of Presidential Decree Number 80/2003 and the issuance of a regulation on the national logistics system.

"These matters required prefamiliarization of businessmen, the chamber of commerce and industry and the regions," he said.

He said a regulation on the national logistics system was important to ensure a connectivity among regions so that the disparity between the western and eastern regions could be reduced.

Hatta said recently that some economic data of the last few months showed the momentum of economic improvement could still be maintained, referring, among other things, to car sales which had shown a positive trend again and even reached around 35.6 percent, and cement sales that reached 17.7 percent.
