KPK GRILLS FORMER DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL
Jakarta, Feb 4 (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) grilled former deputy attorney general Wisnu Subroto here on Thursday as a witness in connection with a bribery attempt and obstruction of justice.
Unlike other witnesses so far grilled by KPK Wisnu left the KPK building through the door specially used by KPK employees or leadership.
Some KPK officials said Wisnu was accompanied by KPK's director of prosecution, Feri Wibisono, who was a former prosecutor.
Wisnu was grilled in the case of bribery and extortion attempts that had involved Anggodo Widjojo as the suspect.
Wisnu was heard discussing with Anggodo in the tape recorded by the KPK, the legal case involving KPK leaders Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra Hamzah, which was later dropped.
KPK spokesman Johan Budi confirmed that Wisnu had been questioned as a witness but he would not comment much on the question of his departure from KPK. "It will be discussed at the KPK leadership meeting," he said.
KPK deputies Bibit Samad and M Jasin said they did not know if Wisnu left through the special door. Jasin had even denied once that KPK had given him a special treatment.
"None being questioned passed through the side door. They all come through the front door. That is not true," Jasin said in his short message when asked to confirm about the incident.
However after he was told about the process of Wisnu's departure Jasin said "if that is the case we will raise the issue at the leadership meeting."
Bibit meanwhile said through a text message that the KPK leadership had agreed to allow persons to be questioned to pass through the special entry gate only upon humanitarian reasons.
The KPK leadership knows that certain persons under questioning do not want to be covered by the press or wish they could be grilled in their office.
"So long as they are mere witnesses I think it is not a problem. However we will see it," he said.
KPK deputy Haryono agreed that persons being investigated must not be given special treatment. "He should not have received that," he said in a short message.
