CENTURY INQUIRY C'TTEE TO SUBMIT FINAL REPORT TO HOUSE PLENUM

Jakarta, Feb 4 (ANTARA) - The House Bank Century Inquiry Committee will submit a final report on its investigation into the bank's bailout to a plenary House session to determine the House's stance on the issue, a spokesman said.

Gayus Lumbuun, the inquiry committee's deputy chairman, said here on Thursday that after receiving the report, the plenary session of the DPR would decide its formal stance on the issue.

"The mechanism of the decision making will be agreed upon at the plenary session," he said.

Gayus had earlier said the committee would hold a meeting in which factions in the committee would present their views on the committee's conclusions and recommendations on the Bank Century case.

After all factions had presented their views and recommendations a small team would be set up to formulate the committee's report and recommendations.
"This report and the recommendations will later be discussed at a plenary meeting of the committee with regard to making the final report," he said.

The final report of the committee, he said, was what would be submitted to the plenary meeting of the DPR for a final say.

The inquiry committee chief, Idrus Marham, said he was optimistic the committee would be able to finish its task on time.

He said he believed the committee would be able to complete its task on time although it had so far been able to agree only on three of four topics.

The three topics the committee had already agreed upon were on the merger, the extension of the Short-term Funding Facility (FJPJ) and the decision-making process for the bailout.

The topic on which the committee still had to reach common accord was the flow of the bailout funds, he said.

Idrus said the flow of the Bank Century bailout funds could not as yet be discussed because the data was not yet complete and therefore the committee had asked the court to issue a ruling that would allow the committee to get copies of the data.

"We are optimistic we will be able to collect all the data we need soon so that our Bank Century inquiry can be wrapped up," he said.
