Conf of APR electoral commissions to be held in Irkutsk.

IRKUTSK, February 4 (Itar-Tass) -- An international conference of
representatives of electoral commissions of states of the Asia-Pacific
region (APR) will be held in Irkutsk in September-October 2010, ITAR-TASS learnt at the press service of the governor and government of the region on Thursday.

"Chairman of the Russian Central Electoral Commission Vladimir Churkin
made a proposal of holding such a meeting within the framework of
development of cooperation with electoral bodies of foreign countries," a
representative of the pres service specified.
According to the press service, the conference "will make it possible
to present the Russian electoral system and acquaint foreign guests with
the practice of work of electoral commissions of the Siberian Federal
District."
Elections of heads of municipalities and deputies of representative
bodies of local self-government will be held in the region on March 14. In
particular, mayors of the cities of Irkutsk, Ust-Ilimsk and other
districts will be elected.
