Top Chinese MP, Russian envoy discuss regional cooperation.

BEIJING, February 5 (Itar-Tass) - The Chairman of the Standing
Committee of the National People's Congress of China, U Bango, and
visiting Russian president's envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District,
Viktor Ishayev, confirmed on Friday that Russia and China will strengthen
inter-regional and border cooperation.

"We have a lot of major issues. Each our meeting with Chinese leaders
gives an impetus to bilateral cooperation," Ishayev said. He stressed that
President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin pay much
attention to the development of Russia's Far East.
U Bango congratulated Ishayev on his appointment to the post of envoy,
and stressed the importance of developing bilateral ties in all spheres,
including legislative bodies in the regions.
The Russian envoy arrived on Friday in China at the invitation of the
Chinese Foreign Ministry to discuss possibilities for developing further
trade, economic, scientific and cultural ties between regions of the
Russian Far East and Chinese provinces.
On Sunday the Chinese capital will host a conference on
Russian-Chinese regional cooperation. Officials from the leadership of the
Amur region, Primorye, the Khabarovsk region as well as major companies
operating in the Far East will take part from the Russian side.
China will be represented by officials from central ministries and
departments, heads of the Heilongjiang, Nei Monggol, Liaoning, Jilin
provinces as well as business people.
