SOME 6,508.78 TONS OF UREA ALLOCATED FOR BOYOLALI FARMERS

Boyolali, Feb 8 (ANTARA) - The Boyolali district administration has allocated 6,508.78 tons of the region's urea fertilizer stock for local farmers in 19 sub-districts, a spokesman said.

office spokesman Juwaris said here on Monday that the fertilizer has been distributing since January 2010 in order to meet the local farmers need of fertilizer for the growing season this month.

Juwaris said Boyolali district got 31,000 tons of urea fertilizer subsidy this year or rose from last year allocation of 29,551 tons.

"The allocation in 2009 was actually 27,551 tons but the local administration added 2,000 more tons to make it 29,551 tons this year.

Meanwhile, Dispertanbunhut food crops and horticulture section spokesman Parwoto explained that of 31,000 tons of urea fertilizer in Boyolali, 27,886 tons were distributed for food crops sector, 840 tons for plantation sector, 2,169 tons for horticulture sector, and 105 tons for animal husbandry section.

According to Parwoto, the urea fertilizer was also needed by animal husbandry sector.

"The realization of urea fertilizer distribution to date has reached 6,508.78 tons of which, 3,146.68 tons were distributed in January 2010, and 3,362.1 tons for this month," Parwoto said.

He said the farmers needed urea fertilizers for the first planting season in January and February, and the second planting season in November and December and in those months the average need of urea was up to 3,000 tons per month.

According to him, the government this year has set the fertilizer prices in accordance with the previous standard price of Rp1,200 per kg or Rp60 per bag weighing 50 kg.

He added that price of other fertilizer namely ZA was Rp1,005 per kg, SP-36 Rp1,550 per kg, NPK Phonska Rp1,750 per kg, NPK Pelangi Rp1,830 per kg, and organic fertilizer Rp500 per kg.
