Yanukovich about 4% ahead of Timoshenko as 70,30% counted.
KIEV, February 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Viktor Yanukovich gained 49.07% of
votes and Yulia Timoshenko - 45.27% after 70.30% of electronic protocols
from the district election committees had been counted, the Central
Election Commission reported on Monday.
Some 4.49% voted against both candidates.

MOSCOW, February 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
will present the presidential prizes in science and innovations to young
scientists for 2009. At an awarding ceremony in the Kremlin the president
will present to the prize winners honorary badges and corresponding
certificates on Monday.
Last week President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yuri Osipov
announced the presidential prize winners, who were elected by the
Presidential Council for Science, Technologies and Education. The prize
laureates are biophysicist Yekaterina Shishatskaya, who developed the
technology of biodegradable polymers, chemist Sergei Knyazev, who created
a catalyst for producing the substances, which are particularly applied in
a new generation of rocket fuels, chemist Alexei Bobrovsky, who developed
liquid crystal polymers fro information technologies, as well as
radiophysicist Pavel Belov, who created devices for processing and
screening images with super-resolution.
In 2009 the Presidential Council for Science, Technologies and
Education received about 300 projects bidding for presidential prizes.
Some 111 independent specialists were conducting an expertise of the
projects. Four best projects were elected in the secret ballot.
"The competition was very high even at the last stage. It was very
difficult to elect these particular projects: there were many disputes and
various opinions," Osipov said. "World level projects were elected
finally," he believes. "We have outstanding scientists, who are recognized
not only in Russia, but also abroad," Osipov added.
The presidential prize amounts to 2.5 million roubles. "This is right
a half of a big state prize in science," the chairman of the Coordinating
Council for the Youth Affairs in Science and Education under the
Presidential Council for Science, Technologies and Education, Andrei
Petrov, said.
.Yanukovich just about 3% ahead of Timoshenko so far - CEC.

votes and Yulia Timoshenko - 45.42% after 74.43% of electronic protocols
from the district elections committees had been counted in the second
round of the Ukrainian presidential elections, the Central Election
Commission reported on Monday.
The gap between the candidates narrowed to 3.01%.

KIEV, February 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Viktor Yanukovich gained 48.61% of
votes and Yulia Timoshenko - 45.72% after 81.02% of electronic protocols
from the district election committees had been counted, the Central
Election Commission reported on Monday.
So, Timoshenko is less than three percent behind Yanukovich.
