Timoshenko to resign if Yushchenko, Yanukovich form Rada coalition.
KIEV, February 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Yulia Timoshenko will resign from the
post of prime minister, if Viktor Yushchenko and Victor Yanukovich form a
coalition in the Ukrainian parliament, representative of the Yulia
Timoshenko Bloc Sergei Sobolev told the Ukrainian television on Sunday.
"The president cannot dismiss the incumbent premier. Only the
newly-elected parliament and if Yushchenko and Yanukovich form a new
coalition, then the premier can resign," he said, adding that he does envy
this country, "if it will be such a detonating mixture as Yushchenko and
Yanukovich." "I can hardly imagine what expects such country," Sobolev
noted.
The results of six exit polls showed that Viktor Yanukovich gained
most votes in the run-off of the presidential elections. The Yulia
Timoshenko election headquarters does not recognize the results of the
exit polls and started gathering the evidence of elections falsifications.
.Ukrainian presidential elections valid - CEC.
KIEV, February 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian
Central Election Commission Andrei Magera noted that "there is no feeling
that the presidential elections in Ukraine are not valid." "The ballot
papers are coming, district election committees are working, and the vote
count is underway," he told a press briefing.
Magera did not rule out that the situation may emerge when both
candidates will gain the equal percentage of votes. "However, such
probability is very slim and makes 0.01%," he added.
.Yanukovich leading in presidential elections - preliminary results.
KIEV, February 8 (Itar-Tass) -- The Ukrainian Central Election

Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Andrei Magera
elaborated that the vote count is just in the beginning and still it is

KIEV, February 8 (Itar-Tass) -- European observers recognized the
Ukrainian presidential elections democratic, a source in the European
Commission told Itar-Tass. An official statement will be made on Monday,
the source said.
Deputy Chairwoman of the Party of Regions Anna German told Itar-Tass
that in private talks international observers did not make serious
remarks. "I did not hear anything in the talks that would get me worried,"
she said. According to her, European observers will most likely recognize
the election results. "A forecast can be made that it will be so," German
noted.
.Timoshenko, Yanukovich gain 46% each so far - BYT.
KIEV, February 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Yulia Timoshenko and Viktor Yanukovich
gained 46% each so far, the Yulia Timoshenko Bloc (BYT) made public this
data after the parallel vote count of 85.7% of protocols.
"85.7% of protocols were processed, Timoshenko and Yanukovich polled
46% each," First Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Turchinov, who heads the
Yulia Timoshenko election staff, told a press briefing on Monday.
Meanwhile, he noted that he would not call any basis points to preserve
the intrigue.
According to Turchinov, Timoshenko won a convincing victory in 17
administrative territorial entities, and Yanukovich in ten entities.
According the Central Election Commission, after 11.24% of protocols
from the district election committees have been counted Yanukovich gained
52.17% and Timoshenko - 42.60%.
.Yanukovich over 4% ahead of Timoshenko - Party of Regions.
KIEV, February 8 (Itar-Tass) -- The leader of the opposition Party of
Regions Viktor Yanukovich is 4.5% ahead of Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko
after 82% of ballots have been counted, Deputy Chairman of the Party of
Regions Boris Kolesnikov said, announcing the preliminary results of the
parallel vote count by the Party of Regions.
"Some 82% of ballot papers have been counted so far, Yanukovich's lead
makes 1.23 million votes that is more than 4.5%," he said. "We will
complete the vote count on all protocols in the next 90 minutes,"
Kolesnikov said.
.Western Ukraine votes for Timoshenko - BYT staff.
LVOV, February 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Western Ukraine remained loyal to the
ideals of the Orange Revolution voting for Yulia Timoshenko. Some 82% of
the electorate voted for Timoshenko in the Lvov region, the Timoshenko
regional election staff reported. About 8-10% of voters supported Viktor
Yanukovich.
Despite a quite high turnout just about the same as in the first round
- 78.51%, the experts believed that Timoshenko was most likely to win in
the western Ukrainian region. "In the second round the 'protest'
technology was used actively. If Viktor Yanukovich's percentage is his
electorate, those who voted for Yulia Timoshenko did not want to see her
rival Yanukovich in the presidential office," anchorman of the talk show
Speaking Plainly Ostap Drozdov said.
Among violations in the Lvov region in the run-off are the calls to
the voters with the appeals to spoil ballot papers. However, "the number
of violations is low. Therefore, it can be said that the violations could
influence the election process," an international observer CIS-EMO from
Russia Ruslan Cherecherko said. According to him, "There were some cases
of improper preparedness of polling stations and some inaccuracies in the
election lists."
