CENTURY INQUIRY COMMITTEE MEETS WITH PPATK
Jakarta, Nov 9 (ANTARA) - The House of Representative's committee investigating the Bank Century bailout in 2008 met with the chief of the Center of Transaction Analysis and Reporting (PPATK) to trace the flow of the bank's funds.
The meeting was led by committee's chairman Idrus Marham at the House of Representatives building here on Tuesday.
PPATK's chief Yunus Husein said in line with the committee's request he had submitted some data linked to the case.
The data cover among others recapitulation of the results of analysis on transactions linked to Robert Tantular (one of Bank Century owners) and the Bank Century , details of investigation of the bank's assets abroad as well as the names of 50 big depositors in the bank.
The PPATK had also submitted the results of identification of funds recipients whose names are similar to those of state officials and tracing of the bank's assets abroad.
Yunus reminded the committee not to make the data known to the public. He said he had submitted it for the sake of helping the committee carry out its task.
"This must be adhered to for the sake of the commitee and the banking industry," he said.
On the occasion the PPATK expressed its readiness to help the committee in its efforts to investigate the case.
The government in 2008 injected Rp6.7 trillion to bail out the bank upon judgement its collapse in the midst of the world economic crisis would be systemic.
Seven out of nine party factions in the committee in their initial conclusions on Monday said they had found irregularities in the case.
The ruling Democrat Party and the National Awakening Party meawhile stated that the decision was right and its implementation had also been done correctly.***1***
