LUCRATIVE CONTRACTS ACROSS THE MIDDLE EAST ON RADICARE`S RADAR

By Muin Abdul Majid

DUBAI, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- Integrated facilities management provider
Radicare (M) Sdn Bhd is hopeful of landing a three-year services contract worth
nearly 100 million dirhams (US$27.2 million) involving military health
facilities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Radicare's foray in the Middle East is being spearheaded by its subsidiary
Modern Technology Ltd.

"This is a big contract valued at about 33 million dirhams (US$8.98 million)
per year for 24 such facilities throughout the UAE," Modern Technology's general
manager Zuhairi Yusoff told Bernama in a recent interview here.

"We've been told by the authorities concerned that we're one of the lowest
bidders but with good technical capabilities," he said.

Modern Technology was one of the companies brought in by the Malaysia
External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) for Arab Health 2010 exhibition
at the end of last month.

Zuhairi said Radicare was also eyeing similar contracts in countries like
Lebanon, Libya and Saudi Arabia.

Radicare's first venture into the Middle East market started in 2008 when
Modern Technology was appointed to maintain a number of facilities under the Ras
Al Khaimah Medical Zone.

A year later, it landed another contract from the UAE's Ministry of Health
covering healthcare centres situated in the Dubai Medical District.

Offering mainly biomedical engineering maintenance services, Modern
Technology is also involved in the private healthcare sector in Dubai and
Sharjah.

A member of the Realmild group of companies, Radicare offers services in
clinical waste management, cleansing services, linen and laundry services,
facilities engineering maintenance as well as biomedical engineering maintenance
services.
