SUDANESE AMBASSADORS ACROSS ASIA TO MEET IN KUALA LUMPUR

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- Sudanese ambassadors from across Asia will
converge here next week to discuss regional development and chart plans to
enhance ties with their host countries.

Minister Plenipotentiary of the Sudan Embassy here, Abadi Nureldin, said the
choice of Kuala Lumpur for the two-day meeting reflected the good relations
between Sudan and Malaysia.

"It is more practical to have the meeting on a regional basis as it will be
costly to bring all the ambassadors home," he told Bernama when accompanying two
senior editors from the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) for a visit to Wisma Bernama
here today.

He said the Sudanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Karti, will
chair the meeting, expected to be attended by eight ambassadors assigned to
cover at least 12 countries.

It is the second time such a meeting is held outside Khartoum, after Beijing
in 2007.

"We are also arranging for a meeting with Petronas and to take the
ambassadors to Putrajaya where we signed an agreement last October to set up our
embassy at the diplomatic enclave," said Nureldin.

The embassy here also covers Thailand, the Philippines and Brunei.

During the visit to Wisma Bernama, SUNA Assistant Director General for
Editing Affairs Neimat Abdel Moneim and Mohamed Osman Adam, editor-in-chief of
its "Sudan Now" magazine, held discussions with Bernama Editor-in-Chief Datuk
Yong Soo Heong on closer cooperation between the two agencies.

Apart from enhancing news exchange, they explored the possibility of
short-stint attachment for their reporters at each other's agency.

Formed in 1970, SUNA transmits news in Arabic, French and English.
