RF presid submits to Duma agt on CIS peacekeepers funding.
MOSCOW, February 11 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on
Wednesday submitted to the State Duma lower house of parliament an
agreement on the order of the financial, technical and logistic support of
the activities and personnel of the Collective Peacekeeping Force (CPKF)
of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
According to the document, "The financing of the activities and
personnel of the Collective Peacekeeping Force is made by the sending
sides (states that provided their contingents to the CPKF) based on the
decision of the parties to the Agreement and mandate on conducting the
peacekeeping operation within the framework of financial assets annually
envisaged in the national budgets for the related purposes."
"For the financing of the activities and personnel of the CPKF also
funds of other member countries of the Commonwealth taking part in the
peacekeeping operations in other form may be used, as well as funds
provided by international organisations," the agreement says.
According to the accompanying materials, "the fulfilment of the
agreement will not result in additional federal budget spending."
