Moldova president urges intl community to avert neofascism revival
CHISINAU, June 23 (Itar-Tass) - Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin called for the struggle against the revival of neofascism and nationalism on the world political scene.
Speaking at the wreath-laying ceremony to the Memorial called
"Eternity" on occasion of the 67th anniversary of the beginning of the
Great Patriotic War, Voronin said, "Unfortunately nowadays there are some attempts to revive the ideas of neofascism and nationalism." "This is a threat for us all, as these doctrines led only to wars, destruction and human sufferings," the president said. "It is necessary to make every effort so that the humankind would not experience such ordeal in the future," he said.
Taking part in the wreath-laying ceremony were members of the
government, war veterans, servicemen, residents and guests of the Moldovan capital.
According to the official reports 5.3 thousand veterans of the
Great Patriotic War live in Moldova. For the last six years Moldova
restored more than 100 monuments of military glory, completed the
construction of the Serpeni Stronghold memorial complex, which is
dedicated to the heroes of the Iasi-Chisinau Operation, and overhauled the Eternity memorial complex in Chisinau.
